The 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) has come and gone, leaving a trail of excitement and celebration in its wake. Held at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, the award night recognized the best of Africa’s film and television industry. With over 150 nominations and 27 categories, the night was filled with glamour, and excitement as the crème de la crème of the industry gathered to celebrate their peers’ achievements. The Big Winner: “Breath of Life”
“Breath of Life” emerged as the biggest winner of the night, taking home six awards. The film’s impressive performance was led by Wale Ojo, who won the Best Lead Actor award for his role as Old Timi. Ojo defeated a strong field of nominees, including Stan Nze, Marc Zinga, Gideon Okeke, David Ezekiel, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Lateef Adedimeji, and Gabriel Afolayan.
Other Notable Winners
Kehinde Bankole won the Best Lead Actress award for her role in “Adire”, defeating Funke Akindele, Adaobi Dibor, Segilola Ogidan, and others. Layi Wasabi, a popular comedian, secured his first AMVCA win in the Best Digital Content Creator category, beating out Adebola ‘Lizzy Jay’ Adeyela, Maryam Apaokagi-Greene, and others.
The AMVCA 2024 was a night to remember, celebrating the best of Africa’s film and television industry.
