Nigerian parents are cutting noodles from their household menus due to increasing prices. Hauwa Bakari, a mother and teacher, said her children’s favorite fast food was becoming unaffordable, leading her to look for an alternative. Kimi Samuel, a mother of four, decided to cut noodles from her grocery list as it now looks like a waste of resources and unnecessary. Rose Yakubu, a student, said the high cost of noodles would not deter her from eating it, as it saved her from buying other food ingredients to cook a proper meal. Shop owner Shefiyu Abubakar said that only a few people can afford noodles from his shop anymore, attributed to the increase in commodity prices and the preference for other foodstuffs.
