Economic Hardship: Parents shun noodles as prices keep increasing

Posted by on March 1, 2024, Under: News

The parents said brands of noodles were becoming unaffordable, hence the need for them to look for an alternative. NAN

Nigerian parents are cutting noodles from their household menus due to increasing prices. Hauwa Bakari, a mother and teacher, said her children’s favorite fast food was becoming unaffordable, leading her to look for an alternative. Kimi Samuel, a mother of four, decided to cut noodles from her grocery list as it now looks like a waste of resources and unnecessary. Rose Yakubu, a student, said the high cost of noodles would not deter her from eating it, as it saved her from buying other food ingredients to cook a proper meal. Shop owner Shefiyu Abubakar said that only a few people can afford noodles from his shop anymore, attributed to the increase in commodity prices and the preference for other foodstuffs.
